Barron Building

Did a photo shoot for our architecture magazine on Wednesday. Must have been -25 degrees. The Barron building is Calgary's first "skyscraper", built in 1951 in an Art Deco style. Except for the Uptown theater on the ground floor, the building's 11 floors are totally vacant and gutted. The only occupants are dead pigeons in a garbage bag in the penthouse, and occasionally homeless people who manage to sneak into the basement.
