John Berkey is the Monet of space ships. Whatever your artistic preferences may be, you can't deny that his paintings are beautiful. He has an impressionistic/abstract style that is instantly recognizable and I think it really elevates "sci-fi" beyond nerd-dom and taps into people's innate need to explore new places.
He died in 2008 and I can't find a website, but many of his paintings can be found here.
